New UberPainter mod for Dark Crusade
I've had Dark Crusade installed on my machine for all of two hours, and already the newest version of the UberPainter mod is released.
Just like the previous versions, the Uber Painter for Dark Crusade aims to add all of the units and buildings to the army painter list, along with a fully correct list of Games Workshop's paint colours, so that you can see your army scheme in all its glory without having to build each unit in-game.
Flash Gitz with coloured goggles
Crystalking has now submitted another skin from his friend Chcknslvdrvr - the Flash Gitz with coloured goggles.
As well as making the goggles team colourable, the skin also adds team colouring to the shells, belt and helmets.
Thanks to Chcknslvdrvr for allowing his work to be submitted to Skins@HWT.
Site outage and fixed download
Sorry for the recent site outage. It seems there was a problem with the database which locked it up so that the site wouldn't work. Unfortunately I've also taken a few days away from the computer, so I've only just found out about this error and fixed the site.
Everything is now back to normal, and I've fixed the teamcolourable Nightbringer download. Apologies for any inconvenience caused!
Necron, Guard and Tau downloads
The release of Dark Crusade has, unsuprisingly, picked up the pace of people creating new content. It's also good to see that many of the submissions are from new faces.
Newly approved today are:
- Alternate Guard Captain from Ariesatyre - a modification of Rhedd's recent aged Captain that makes the colours more like Hangar-8's Golden Eagle Space Marines.
- Complete Tau Badge and Banner set, also by Ariesatyre - a full set of colourful badges and banneres for all of the Tau septs.
- Team Colourable Nightbringer from DanVanMan - adds the Nightbringer's skin to the Trim 2 layer, making it team colourable and more obviously aligned to an army on the battlefield.
Thanks to both of the contributors, and hopefully we'll see more from them and others as Dark Crusade is released in Europe, the United Kingdom and the rest of the world!
Ten new textures and texture sets!
With Dark Crusade having been release a few weeks ago in the US and released in the UK yesterday, the Dawn of War Dark Crusade skins keep rolling in.
New contributions today are:
- Adonis' Tau with custom badges so that all Tau units can have the badge of their homeworld.
- Aged and Younger Imperial Guard Captain by Rhedd.
- Space Marine Force Commander by Rhedd (with another great and detailed new face).
- Space Marines with Specularity (reflection) map by MEGAzogg. A full pack for the race following the earlier teaser.
- Camouflaged Tau by Ariesatyre - skins for the entire race.
- Tau with custom badges by WraithLord - developed at the same time as Adonis' textures.
- Necrons with Badges, Necron units and Necron with colourable blade from WraithLord.
Since almost all Dark Crusade skins are compatible with the original Dawn of War and Winter Assault models (except those new features added by Dark Crusade, which are normally additions rather than changes) none of the skins have their own 'Dark Crusade' section. Instead you'll find them all in the appropriate race's category.
Screenshots will be added soon - either when I crop and resize the screenshots that have been sent in, or when I receive Dark Crusade from Amazon.co.uk.
Twelve new team colours and army schemes
All pending downloads (with the exception of Black Fang's Reviler's banner, which is still awaiting contact from the author) have now been approved. Included in the list of eleven full army schemes (badge, banner and .teamcolour) and one .teamcolour are the Au'Taal colour scheme from Sol Blast and the Iron Knights, Emperor's Wrath and Yellow Jacket Space Marine army schemes, plus a further eight army schemes, from Briarus.
Thanks to both for their submissions, and I'll try to get some screenshots added as soon as I get a chance.
Three new textures
Newly added today are three new textures, including our first for Dawn of War: Dark Crusade.
Firstly, the Grey Knights have been made more team colourable by Chcknslvdrvr. N0maD has added a workaround 'hack' to make the game use the original Dawn of War Campaign textures in multiplayer games. Finally, MEGAzogg has added a reflection teaser that adds specularity reflection maps to Space Marines and Guardsmen.
Thanks to all three for their contributions, and thanks to Briarus for his contribution of ten army schemes and Sol Blast for his Au'Taal scheme. Unfortunately my time for tonight has run out, so hopefully the remaining contributions will be available tomorrow!
Commissar and mega badge collection
Having submitted his large army scheme pack of badges, banners and .teamcolour files a while ago, MEGAzogg (AKA Dakka!Dakka!) has now returned from holiday and clarified an issue so I can now publish them.
Also newly published is HorusHeretic's Unscarred Commissar. The minor change removes the huge scar from the Commissar's left cheek, giving him a somewhat more normal complexion. He's still the mean and grizzled veteran he always was, only now slightly more complete!
Thanks to both HorusHeretic and MEGAzogg for their submissions, and apologies to MEGAzogg for the delay in approving his files.
Textures for 'Beasts of the Warp'
Okay, so maybe the Warp Spiders aren't actually 'beasts of the warp' but they do have a new texture, along with the Daemon Prince.
Sable.Drake's Non-Team Colourable Warp Spiders fix the vast majority of the Warp Spider and Exarch textures to standard Codex colours (except the Warp Spider's blade, which remains colourable). As with the previous two skins uploaded, this contribution has been freely added to the 'Codex Toolbox Mod'.
HorusHeretic has released a Team Colourable Daemon Prince texture. Although not as extensively team colourable as the earlier team colourable Bloodthirster we host (the Daemon Prince skin remains red) it's a great texture to ally your Daemon Prince with your Legion.
Thanks to both authors for their skinning contributions.
Alternate Salamanders Force Commander
Shortly after the Salamanders Space Marine skin with coloured skinned characters, Steveocarty has dug out his coloured skinned Force Commander.
Steveocarty's skin has an entire re-work of the face texture, with a great level of detail. Hopefully someone will find a use for it - if not in a Mod then as a normal in-game skin.
