Alternate textures and Tau teamcolours/banners

Newly added today are two new textures from Ajax fete des fleurs, plus the pending set of Tau teamcolours and banners from Briarus.

The new textures from Ajax fete des fleurs include an alternate teamcolourable Dark Crusade Force Commander, based on a combination of Fleshp0int's Flesh Eaters Force Commander and Chcknslvdrvr's Team Colourable Force Commander, and a set of fully team colourable Grey Knights.

Thanks to both for their contributions, and hopefully we'll see more from Ajax fete des fleurs.

Three new banners/army schemes from Briarus

Three new downloads have been added from Briarus; two army schemes and one banner. The Orks gain a Speed Freeks army scheme (badge, banner and .teamcolour) and a Goff banner based on images from the Games Workshop website. A collection of four Eldar Craftworlds also get badges, banners and .teamcolours based on Games Workshop's models, as well as an update for Il-Kaithe.

A further four downloads are currently waiting on responses from the authors, including another badge/banner/teamcolour set for the Tau from Briarus.

Thanks to Briarus for adding to his now rather extensive list of badges, banners and army schemes, and hope people like the new downloads and had a happy holidays.

Insomniax downloads returned

It has recently been pointed out in a comment that the files from LedMirage of the Insomniax.net team (a Scout and Land Speeder texture) were no longer working.

It appears that the Insomniax team have now moved on to other games and removed the Dawn of War section of their downloads. I have managed to retrieve the files from elsewhere and they are now available again, hosted on the Skins@HWT website!

Two new versions of UberPainter

Two new versions of the UberPainter mod have been released for Dark Crusade, one for gamers and one for texturers. It would have been preferred to have one single version, but Dawn of War has hard-coded limits on the number of units in the Army Painter, which the Tau have reached in the UberPainter mods.

The first, UberPainter for Dark Crusade v1.1, is a gamer-centric version that contains all of the units and as many buildings as possible within the 31 unit limit of the Army Painter.

The second, UberPainter for Dark Crusade v1.1.1, is a texturer-centric version that contains as many of the units as possible and all of the buildings. The sacrificed units are the Vespid Strain Leader and the Devilfish troop transporter, whose textures are wholly/substantially available on other units (e.g. the Vespid and Skyray).

Thanks also to Phlo from the Relic News forums who has contributed a French translation of the UberPainter paint names, which is now included in these updated versions.

New userbars for forum use

They seem to be everywhere on forums these days, and MadMaffMan (a site contributer and forum member) recently suggested that I make some of my own.

So far I've managed to put together two designs of userbar for Skins@HWT and related content, which can be saved and hosted elsewhere for use in signatures (and as a link to the site). I'll try to make more bars when I think of ideas.

Although I can't police it, the contributor bars are intended only for those people (like MadMaffMan) who have actually contributed files to Skins@HWT. If you are a contributor and want to use a contributor userbar then please feel free to link directly to your author page (http://skins.hiveworldterra.co.uk/Downloads/author.html?name=YourName).

Updated Tau Badges

Following a request on Hangar-8's forums I've re-made my Tau badges. The new Tau Badges v1.2 are re-sized for use with Dark Crusade and Adonis' Tau with custom badge texture. The new badges will fit the badge areas better than the original badges (which were designed for the Tau Mod and so ended up too small).

Flesh Eaters, Flash Gitz and updated team colours

With the release of Dark Crusade Caelien has returned and updated the Tau Teamcolours and Eldar Teamcolours. The Tau teamcolours are now designed for the Dark Crusade Tau, while the Eldar schemes have an additional craftworld added from White Dwarf.

Fleshp0int has also updated his Flesh Eaters Space Marines set with a Flesh Eaters Force Commander for Dark Crusade, complete with more vampiric face.

Finally, Adonis had (on request) made a set of Team Colourable skinned Flash Gitz. Although not necessarily fluffy with some schemes, they complement the existing colourable skinned Orks from Havoc and can be used for differing shades and/or war paint.

Thanks to all contributors, and hopefully there should be a submission or two from me soon, along with some screenshot updates.

Server outage and file replacement

Over the weekend I added two new files (DanVanMan's Dark Crusade Force Commander and the new Dawn of War Texture Tool v1.7). Unfortunately, due to a disk failure on the server, all of the weekend updates were lost.

Both files are now available again and I'm working to replace the other changes that I made over the weekend.

Apologies for the outage and temporary loss of files, but thanks to ASO for resolving the issue quickly and keeping me (the customer) informed of progress.

Two new texture packs and a recount

Firstly, my apologies for falsely announcing we'd reached our 400th download with Crystalking's latest submission. We had, in fact, reached our 405th download! While doing other Admin duties I noticed the discrepancy, did a quick recount and noticed that five downloads in the Miscellaneous section hadn't been counted.

Now for the real content - new downloads! A few days ago, Hangar-8 released his latest skin pack, this time for the Tau. His Camouflaged Tau give all of the Tau (including the vehicles) camouflage, and make the Kroots' skin less team colourable so that they don't turn out so neon in some schemes.

A great new submission from a new contributor is the Flesh Eaters skin pack for the Space Marine infantry from Fleshp0int. The Flesh Eaters are a vampiric successor chapter of the Blood Angels, and vehicles will be following soon.

Thanks to both submitters for their new contributions, and hopefully screenshots will be updated on various downloads at the weekend.

Old-style Front End Space Marine added

Gamers who started with Dark Crusade, or the Game of the Year edition of Dawn of War, may never have known, but Space Marines used to be a more colourable than they now are. Previously their eyes were colourable, and their squad markings arrows shared their colour with weapons. Some people prefer this layout, and Crystalking has now submitted a texture to revert the Dawn of War front-end Space Marine to the original texture.

Incidentally, this is also our 400th download to be made available! It's an interesting reminisce on how the game used to be for a 400th download.
