Additional colours in Army Painter
Dawn of War has been released for almost 16 months now, and still people are finding new things that can be modified in the game!
Scorpia recently posted a brief tutorial on the Relic News forums about adding new preset colours to the Army Painter. This tutorial is now available as the article "How to add new preset colours to the Army Painter" and the information within it will hopefully soon be used to make an improved Army Painter mod.
New skin from Havoc
Once again Havoc has released a new Space Marine skin with more detailing and decoration on the armour. Not content with releasing the Iron Hands Space Marines and associated characters, he has now released a Veteran Reborn skins.
Despite a few minor inconsistencies in the fluff description of the skin, this great new skin adds extra detailing to shoulders and legs, reworks the chest plate and adds some interesting glow effects - work that any artificer would be proud of.
New artist, new texture
Skins@HWT has just received and added a new texture from yet another new artist!
Following on from Sandwichwarrior's original Aspect Warrior textures, that showed the Aspect Warriors in their true colours, Jace has released non-teamcolourable Fire Dragons. These textures complete the set for those people running Winter Assault and use the normal orange and grey style of the campaign Fire Dragons.
Good news for the New Year
Two new downloads have been added to the site over the Christmas and New Year period.
Firstly, Crystalking52's Miscellaneous Imperial Guard Schemes. Crystalking has requested a few skins with minor modifications before now, and has now provided a download for others to enjoy.
More recently, MadMaffMan has returned from his leave of absence with the Leman Russ texture that he had previously been working on. The new look without camo is great for those armies that want a tank with impact, instead of camouflage.
Finally, a simple 'Declined Downloads' section has been added to the Downloads area. This lists all of the downloads that have been submitted to the system, but which were rejected for some reason or another. Most often, this will be because of some copyright breech or similar.
If you have any ideas on how to improve any part of this site, then please Contact Us. In the mean time, check out the new downloads and enjoy the New Year!
'Pending Downloads' section added
A quick addition has just been hacked into the Downloads section of Skins@HWT. This shows the current list of pending downloads, along with a reason as to why they are pending.
The reason that this was added is that from the 13th of December until the New Year, I won't have access to my computer and so I won't be able to approve downloads. This list allows you to see what goodies/skins/contributions have built up over that period.
Also, the Downloads section has now gained it's own 'Quick Links' section in the side panel. Instead of being at the top of each page, they are now organised with the other navigation on the left hand side. Hopefully this will prove useful for people, just as the restructuring of the Main Menu seems to have proved useful.
Merry Christmas everyone!
Clean Space Marines
Just freshly released is a new 'Clean Space Marines' skin.
Although some people believe Space Marines should be even more battle damaged, due to the amount of wars and skirmishes they take part it, the background says that they revere their armour and make sure that it's spirit is happy. In this way, most Space Marines will have pristine armour with no wear on it, giving a much more dangerous and almost invulnerable look to the Angels of Death!
The skin currently only covers the normal Space Marines, but later additions will hopefully cover the other troops, characters and maybe even the vehicles!
Halved and Quartered Marines enter Winter Assault
It's a busy day of updates today! I have just released the Halved Marines Mod Hotfix for Winter Assault and the Quartered Marines Mod Hotfix for Winter Assault.
Both of these hotfixes make the current version of the mod playable in Winter Assault, although with no tech tree changes and with no stats changes.
A later version, which will probably have to wait until the new year, will make a full 1.4 and WA version, however the current hotfixes allow the existing version to be played in all versions of Dawn of War after v1.3.
Three new downloads from three new authors
This site is all about the contributions, and we now have three more authors who have joined in and shared their amazing works.
Meretrix has contributed a badge and banner pack that contains a mix of badges and banners for different races.
Québec_Dug has released his team colourable Dire Drakes Terminator skin. It is based on Xen's Terminator skin and details of the Chapter are available in Dug's development thread on Relic Forums. Hopefully we will see the rest of the army in a team colourable format in due time.
Finally Malhavok, one of the testers for the Halved and Quartered Marine Mods, has released his variation on canon Dark Reaper Aspect Warriors. The skin adds some extra detailing and alters the colouring to make them closer to some models painted by Games Workshop.
Thanks to all of the authors for all of their contributions, and I hope people enjoy using them. If anyone has any other canon contributions, then I'm always willing to host them or even just list them.
Dawn of War Pattern Switcher for Winter Assault released!
This should have been announced on Sunday when I uploaded it, but I've forgotten until now.
A new version of the Dawn of War Pattern Switcher is now available. This version adds Winter Assault compatibility by adding the ability to load Imperial Guard textures.
My next plans for the Pattern Switcher involve a major overhaul that will allow it to do pattern switching for any race added by a mod. This is currently entirely theoretical and will take a while to implement, even if it is possible.
Corrected 1.3 style Force Commander released
Following a request on the Relic Forums (a request that I'd unfortunately forgotten about for a couple of months!) I've created a minorly changed Force Commander texture.
Having already hosted the Original 1.3 Force Commander for people who didn't like the additional gold of the 1.4 Force Commander, we now have a Corrected 1.3 Force Commander that retains the lack of gold while adding the correction of the inner shoulder pad colour.
No longer do 1.3-style Black Templar Force Commanders have to have black shoulder pads, now they can have the correct white shoulder inners!
