Evil Sunz and Waagh! Grimjaw 1.4 fix
Firstly, the fix. Part of the improvements of patch 1.4 were some 'optimisations' for low end machines. Following reports that the Grimjaw's Orks Warboss was showing up with untextured stikk bombs, it turned out that one of these 'optimisations' was the moving of the stikkbomb textures onto the main body texture. This causes problems with any existing Ork Warboss textures, but can easily be fixed. For anyone using patch 1.4, or using previous patches and planning to install it later or buy Dawn of War:Winter Assault, the new Grimjaw's Orks - Warboss Fix is now available. Note that this doesn't make any difference to anyone running patch 1.3 and before, or people not using a Warboss texture.
Next up, and as a follow on from the Checkered Ork, are the Evil Sunz - or at least Evil Sunz style. This texture adds flames up the front and back of the shoulder pads of the Orks and Nobz, removing the spikes on the Shoota Boyz at the same time to stop them interfering with the pattern. The texture is available as both black Evil Sunz flames and team colourable Evil Sunz flames.
Waaagh! Grimjaw update
Following a suggestion on the Relic Forums that I combine the Black and White Checkered Orks with the Grimjaw Orks, I have released a new version of Grimjaw's Orks.
The new Orks use the same old Grimjaw textures, while also adding black and white checks to the shoulder pads of the Nobz, Shoota Boyz and Tankbustas. It also gave me a chance to update the Grimjaw ammo textures with my new minor improvements.
Colouring added to Ork goggles
Following a request for a minor change (almost a fix to an 'omission' from the original textures by Relic) I have now added the Orks with Coloured Goggles, which adds team colouring to the goggles and bionic eyes of all Orks, not just the Trukk driver.
Community submissions
Hands of Fate has released v0.6 of his Drop Pods with Badges texture - a must for anyone who wants more chapter-themed drop pods to deliver their troops.
Mr Pasta has also submitted a new badge and banner set for the Ravagers chapter, as seen in the Space Marine Codex.
Many thanks to both authors for their work and submissions.
Relic release Dawn of War 1.4 patch
Anyone who has hunted it down, played online or seen the huge amount of Modder complaints will now know that the 1.4 patch has been released, just before the release of Winter Assault (which should hopefully come with the patch included).
Other than breaking the majority of Mods, the one change that this makes that affects this site is that you no longer have the option of using an "eye" colour in the Army Painter. The "eye" colour has now been renamed to "Trim 2", and affects the Tactical arrow on the shoulder pad of the Space Marines, plus some other areas of other textures.
Luckily, I have had a 'fix' for the Space Marines available for a long time now - the Generic Space Marines. Hopefully I will also be able to host replacements of the old versions of the other altered textures soon.
Update: The Original Space Marine Barracks texture is now available for download. This texture will revert the barracks to the same texture as it had pre-1.4 patch, so chapters such as the Blood Angels will not have a large green tactical arrow on the side of the building!
More new Orks
For a short while, before the downloads were moved into the current Downloads module, we had a checkered Ork pattern that was hosted on tigerwolf.uni.cc. Unfortunately, the download never seemed to work and the site was often down.
Now we have a replacement - Checkered Orks (Black)!. This set adds checks to the shoulder pads of the Ork infantry and Nobs, and also improves the ammo textures of the sluggas and shootas slightly.
Coming soon will be a full black and white checkered pattern plus a team colourable checkered skin.
Thumbnails added to nine downloads
Nine of yesterday's downloads (eight from Mel Danes' collection and the Drop Pod skin from Hands of Fate) have now had thumbnails added. All of them previously had links to screenshots, but thumbnails are always a bonus - especially for those on 56K modems who don't want to wait for 100KB+ of screenshot to load!
Also, coming soon (already!) is another version of the Drop Pods skin. Hands of Fate has completed and finished some changes and has submitted it to the site. It will be available just as soon as I check it and get screenshots and thumbnails.
Eleven (11) new downloads!
In another push towards being the one-stop-shop for all of your skinning needs, I've just finished adding all of Mel Danes' previous work as well as two new skins from Unknowndude and a long outstanding Drop Pod skin from the Relic Forums.
Mel Danes' work includes his vehicle skins, which match the vehicles in his table top army, and the Terminators and Space Marines. I have also added his Chaos Lord retexture that was done by request - much more gruesome!
From Unknowndude I have added his Chaos Space Marine retexture and his Camo Boyz orks, the first Ork texture from someone else that is hosted here.
The last skin to report is the Drop Pods with Badge texture from Hands Of Fate. The work was originally created for a new mod, but has been released separately and only just added when I realised it was there! My apologies to Hands Of Fate, but people can now improve their Drop Pods with the inclusion of the Chapter badge as well as the existing team colouring.
Most of the new downloads already have screenshots, although none of them currently have thumbnails. Thumbnails, and screenshots for those downloads without any, will hopefully be added soon.
Two new looks for the website
Following some work and a bit of experimentation, I've now added two new looks to the website. If you want to change your skin for the visit, select it from the "Skin Chooser" box in the side bar.
The first, which will become the default soon, is a Winter Assault inspired skin. The Dawn of War: Winter Assault expansion pack is only a month away now, so I thought the site could do with it's own theme.
The second theme is for those of you who don't like light skins. Based around a Word Bearer's Chaos Lord, the Dark skin is all done in greys and deep reds.
I hope you enjoy the new skins, and hopefully I'll migrate them to the Forums as well soon.
Some Eldar Downloads fixed
Apologies to anyone who has recently downloaded one of the following textures and not been able to use it due to a corrupt .Zip file. The downloads have now been fixed and should now download correctly.
- Rangers with Ice Lands Camo
- Rangers with Urban Camo
- Rangers with Woodland Camo
- Tiger Grav Tank
- Tiger Wraithlord
Thanks to Rhedd for pointing out the errors, and if anyone encounters any problems in future, please contact me.
