52nd Colth Mobilized scheme updated
Following on from the original release of the 52nd Colth Mobilized army scheme, DarkRaptor has released an updated set.
The 52nd Colth Mobilized v1.1 pack contains all of the badges, banners and teamcolours of the original release, plus a pre-Heresy and Jungle colour scheme.
WarSeer Skin released as a mod
The WarSeer Skin (previously released as just a collection of texture files, the same as any other skin) has now been released as a full WarSeer Skin mod.
The Mod doesn't change anything other than the textures, but does change the texture of the front-end models for Dawn of War and Winter Assault.
Bug-fix for Texture Tool released
Although the Texture Tool was compiling what seemed to be valid RSH and RTX files, it wasn't storing the number of MipMaps correctly. This meant that the game didn't recognise the textures compiled with the tool (WTP weren't affected since they use WTP files made of TGA images instead of DDS images).
An updated version of the Dawn of War Texture Tool (version 1.3.1) has now been released, which fixes this problem.
Note, though, that any files incorrectly created by the 1.3 version will give invalid images when you extract them using the 1.3.1 tool. The only solution is to extract using 1.3, re-save using Photoshop, and recompile using 1.3.1.
Thanks to tellboy007 from the Relic Forums for picking up the bug and reporting it.
Hangar-8's downloads migrated
Although Hangar-8's old website has been closed to submissions, it isn't necessarily gone for good. The old location is on its way out, though.
Hangar-8 is currently migrating to his new host and new location of wh40k.concretejungleprimitives.com, and so all linked downloads from Skins@HWT have been changed. If you notice any broken links that used to go to Hangar-8's old site but don't work correctly for the new URL, please contact me.
Yet another Texture Tool release!
Another version of the Dawn of War Texture Tool has been released, this time containing functionality to compile a team coloured TGA from a WTP and either an imported .teamcolour file or manually selected colours.
This release completes all but one of the features, allowing you (with the use of Adobe Photoshop for conversion from TGA to DDS) to create any texture file, alter the colour schemes of a campaign or even just test out a texture.
There is no planned date for the next release, as Final Year Project work for University takes priority, but it will contain TGA to DDS conversion.
SGA Extractor Tutorial
It took a while for me to copy it across, but the SGA Extractor now has a tutorial, thanks to Danimator.
The Dummies guide to IBBoard's SGA Extractor was originally posted on the Relic Forums to help people who didn't know how to use the Extractor, and who weren't used to the command prompt. It takes you through the full process of getting and using the SGA Extractor to create the required models and texture files for a cloned race so that they don't suffer from colour bleed.
Thanks to Danimator for another useful submission.
Skins@HWT proudly presents: WarSeer
WarSeer.net, the large community site that arose after the demise of Portent.net, have their own Space Marine chapter. Originally just a tabletop army and colour scheme, one of the members took it upon themselves to recreate the scheme for Dawn of War.
Skins@HiveWorldTerra is now proud to present the results of that work - the WarSeer Space Marines texture. The texture works with many colour schemes, but also includes the official WarSeer colour scheme. The pack is also a first in that it retextures nearly all of the buildings!
Thanks to Oxford and the WarSeer team for this great contribution.
Fully featured Texture Tool!
It has been a hectic but interesting five days, but the fully texture-compatible Texture Tool is now available.
As well as the original features of WTP compilation and extraction, Texture Tool v1.2 also includes the ability to extract and compile RSH and RTX files. RSH compilation was previously possible through Beroc's WTP tool, and RSH extraction was possible using SpookyRSH Viewer, but both are now available in a single tool.
RTX compilation and extraction is completely unique in a stand-alone tool! RTX files allow you to change the 'team colouring off' skin colours and the textures in the Dawn of War campaign.
There are still extra features to be added, though, and the latest version will always be available at skins.hiveworldterra.co.uk/TextureTool/.
New version of the WTP Texture Tool
Following closely on from the release of the Texture Tool (within around 12 hours!) I have released a new version.
The original version contained a bug when compiling Scout textures, which has now been fixed. The new version also now has the ability to compile or extract multiple WTP files at once.
Go now, and download the Dawn of War Texture Tool v1.1!
New WTP Texture Tool released
Newly released today is a new Dawn of War Texture Tool. Designed to replace Beroc's WTP Tool, it handles all WTP files, including those that Beroc's tool never did.
Amongst these are non-square WTPs such as the Space Marine Scouts and Space Marine Whirlwind Launchers, both of which had to be resized with Beroc's WTP Tool, which then lead to the badge on the scouts being distorted and squashed vertically.
The new Texture Tool also handles textures that have badges, banners or badges and banners.
All WTP files can be compiled or extracted using the Texture Tool, with RSH and RTX compilation and extraction planned for later addition.
Also on the horizon is a new version of the Halved Marines Mod. This new version will be compatible with v1.4/1.41 and will use the 1.41 stats and tech tree for the Space Marines. More on that when it's released.
