Three skins from Slash

Following on from the Bloodied Chaos Space Marines and the Team Colourable Bloodthirster Slash has now turned 'traitor' and released three skins for the Space Marines.

The Detailed Apothecary, Force Commander and Space Marines make some interesting changes to the textures, and the Space Marines in particular are an interesting re-work on the helmet texture.

Thanks to Slash for his contributions, and hopefully we'll see more from him again soon.

Conquer the world in Dark Crusade

More information has been officially released about the Dawn of War: Dark Crusade expansion pack.

According to a press release reported on Yahoo! Finance the game will include a meta-map campaign where you take over a planet with any one of the seven races! From what they've said, think Risk or a normal Warhammer map-based campaign.

Also there to look forward to is bonuses for the territory areas you have in the campaign, and a new ecenomy model for the Necrons.

All in all, it sounds like a promising expansion pack. Now to wait and see what the new maps look like, since they are based on the planet of Kronus (or Kronos depending on which part of the press release you read), a planet that has not previously been mentioned in the 40K literature.

More information as it is released - probably in around a week or two after the e3 computer games expo.

Three new skins from IBBoard

I've been quiet for a while with my time being taken up by the Rollcall Army Builder application that I'm updating (see Hive World Terra and the forums for more details) and, more importantly, my Final Year Project for my Computing Science degree.

Following a pair of requests over at Relic Forums, I now have three new skins available:

These were just some quick and easy changes to give myself a break from my Final Year Project, but I hope everyone likes them.

Digital camo for the Imperial Guard

Following on from the Team Colourable Eldar Avatar, Soleil Rouge [Fr] has now released a real-world inspired Digital camouflage pattern for the Winter Assault Guardsmen.

Based on MARPAT and CADPAT digital camouflages, the digital camouflage mixes four colours (Primary, Secondary, Trim 1 and Trim 2) in a great disruptive camo pattern.

Second race 'officially' announced

It came from a leak of the e3 expo press release that wasn't supposed to be seen by the outside world, but as of 10pm BST (9pm GMT) yesterday Tranj, the official THQ representative at the Relic News Forums, has categorically stated that it will be the Necrons in the second expantion pack. It has also been confirmed that the title will be "Dawn of War: Dark Crusade".

So, now all we can do is wait for e3 to come and then we'll be able to see all of the screenshots and movies that they release as teasers!

Winged Skull Kasrkin texture from Adonis

Following on from his Team Colourable Apothecary skin, Adonis has now released a Winged Skull Kasrkin texture.

Having noticed that the standard Guardsmen get shoulder decorations, but that the elite Kasrkin don't, Adonis added a simple little winged skull to their shoulder. It may not be a huge change, but it does look good.

Two new 'Team Colourable' skins

Following submissions from Soleil_Rouge [Fr] and DragonBuster, we now have two more 'team colourable' skin additions.

The Eldar's Avatar of Khaine received a new colour scheme as the Team Colourable Avatar by Soleil_Rouge, while the Chaos Horror's received DragonBuster's attention to become Team Colourable Horrors.

Both of these new skins make the previously uncolourable units colourable, and help you to distinguish them from your opposition's on the battle field.

Thanks to both authors for submitting their work, and I hope to see more from them soon!

Lamenters Mod now available in Winter Assault

Telboy has now released a new version of his Lamenters Mod. The 0.4 version is now playable in Winter Assault using the Winter Assault tech tree, as well as being a Dawn of War campaign, and also now contains a new Force Commander model and a Veterans unit.

Many thanks to Telboy for making this mod available, and hopefully we'll see those Devestators and other things that he has planned some time in the near future!

Three new downloads, plus screenshot updates

Firstly, the updates. Several existing files had notes saying "screenshots coming soon" because time was short when I posted them and I couldn't get the screenshots there and then. All of the downloads that I could find with missing screenshots should now be updated to have screenshots.

Secondly, the new downloads. Two new skins, one new submitter and a minor tweak/fix of Relic's work.

Following a request on the Relic Forums, Havoc has created a fix for the Chaos Sorcerer to make the Colourable Sorcerer's Weapons texture. It's only a minor change, but it makes his bolt pistol team colourable, just like the Chaos Lord.

Next is mr.trickster's 'Leopard' camo Guardsmen. Luckily it isn't actual leopard print, but it does add rounder and more 'foresty' camouflage to the normal Guardsman.

Finally is Slash's Team Colourable Bloodthirster. Not entirely fluffy, but it does mean that he fits in better with the different chapters. It also means that he can be more of a 'Fighting Daemon' for other Gods, such as the Death Guard of Nurgle, rather than being some misguided Bloodthirster fighting for someone other than the Blood God.

Thanks to all of the submitters for contributing their work, and hopefully we will see more from them soon.
